On November 6, the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV), both owned and operated by TMX Group, held an informational session in Houston highlighting opportunities and processes for U.S. companies looking to access capital in Canada or list on the TSX. The participants were able to learn about global and Canadian market conditions, global public readiness, and equity finance. Also among the discussion topics were the step by step process of becoming a publicly traded company for emerging businesses, as well as for the well-managed, growth-oriented companies with the strong performance track records. While in Texas, the TSX and TSXV also held an event in Dallas.
The TSX and the TSXV are globally competitive exchanges, with more publicly-traded Oil & Gas companies than any other exchange. In 2012, they were ranked number one in the world for equity capital raised for Oil & Gas companies. There are currently 352 international issuers on the TSX and TSXV, comprising 9% of their total listings. They were the global exchange leader for new listings in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and they are ranked second in the world by number of listed companies. Parent company, TMX group, is an integrated, multi-asset class exchange group whose businesses operate cash and derivative markets for multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income and energy.
